Is lemon zest the same thing as pepper?
Lemon zest and pepper are two distinct ingredients used in cooking.
Lemon zest is the grated peel of a lemon, which contains essential oils that provide a citrusy flavor and aroma. It is commonly used in baking and cooking to enhance the taste of dishes.
Pepper, on the other hand, refers to the dried and ground berries of the Piperaceae family, such as black pepper, white pepper, or red pepper. Peppercorns are commonly used as a spice to add pungency and heat to food.
Therefore, lemon zest and pepper are not the same thing and are used for different purposes in culinary preparations.
