How to Make Cinnamon & Sugar
The smell and taste of cinnamon makes many desserts and dishes enjoyable to eat. The fragrance of cinnamon is so enjoyable, it's used for candles, potpourri and other home-fragrance items. While plain, ground cinnamon is used in many recipes, the sweet combination of cinnamon and sugar makes a delicious topping to many foods. Top of a piece of buttered toast with a cinnamon-sugar mixture or sprinkle it over cookies and cakes. Make a batch of cinnamon sugar and store it in your cabinet for use anytime.
Things You'll Need
- Bowl
- 1 tbsp. white sugar
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- Spoon
- 1 tsp. brown sugar (optional)
- 1 pinch ground cloves (optional)
- Airtight container
Instructions
-
Pour 1 tbsp. white sugar and 1 tsp. ground cinnamon in a bowl. Use regular, fine white sugar when adding the cinnamon sugar into a recipe and course white sugar when using the cinnamon sugar to top off a dessert.
-
Stir the mixture with a spoon until the two ingredients are blended well. Scrape the dry ingredients from the sides and bottom of the bowl, and mix well so the cinnamon-sugar flavor is consistent throughout.
-
Taste the cinnamon-sugar mixture for desired taste. Add more white sugar for a weaker blend and more ground cinnamon for a stronger-tasting cinnamon-sugar mixture.
-
Add a unique twist to your cinnamon-sugar mixture by adding 1 tsp. brown sugar or 1 pinch of ground cloves. Brown sugar often is added to cinnamon-sugar mix in cinnamon rolls, and cloves add a sweet kick to your cinnamon sugar.
-
Store unused cinnamon sugar in an airtight container in a cool, dry location.
