What was pear mill in Stockport used for?
The Pear Mill in Stockport was used for cotton spinning. It was built in 1825 and was one of the largest cotton mills in the world at the time. It was owned by Joseph Whitworth, a prominent industrialist and inventor. The mill was closed in 1929 and was demolished in 1932.
