Does fixative need to be refrigerated?

Formalin-based fixatives should be stored at room temperature (15-30°C) while glutaraldehyde-based fixatives should be stored at 4°C. Fixatives containing heavy metals (e.g. chromic acid, osmium tetroxide, uranium salts, etc.) should not be refrigerated, as this may cause them to precipitate. These fixatives are usually stable at room temperature.

Please note that fixatives should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
