How can you tell if dishes are microwave or oven safe?
Microwave Safe:
* Look for the microwave-safe symbol, usually a series of wavy lines or the words "Microwave Safe."
* Check the material. Glass, ceramic, and some plastic containers are generally microwave-safe. Avoid using metal, foil, or plastic wrap in the microwave.
* Test the dish by placing a cup of water next to it in the microwave. If the water heats up and the dish remains cool, it's microwave-safe.
Oven Safe:
* Look for the oven-safe symbol, usually an image of an oven or the words "Oven Safe."
* Check the material. Glass, ceramic, and metal cookware are usually oven-safe. Avoid using plastic or wooden utensils in the oven.
* Test the dish by placing it in a cold oven and gradually increasing the temperature. If the dish doesn't crack or break, it's oven-safe.
