When serving food a handler can use the same utensil to?
A food handler cannot use the same utensil to serve different foods unless:
* The utensil is specifically designed for serving multiple foods. This might include tongs, ladles, or serving spoons that are designed for multiple uses.
* The utensil is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between uses. This includes washing with hot, soapy water and rinsing with clean water, followed by sanitizing with a bleach solution or other approved method.
It's important to remember that cross-contamination is a serious food safety risk. Using the same utensil for multiple foods can transfer bacteria and allergens from one food to another, potentially making people sick.
