How do you care hardened brown sugar?
To soften hardened brown sugar:
1. Place the hardened brown sugar in a microwave-safe bowl or on a plate.
2. Add a damp (not dripping) paper towel or a small bowl of water to the microwave.
3. Microwave the sugar for 15 seconds at a time, testing with a fork after each interval to see if it has softened.
4. Continue microwaving and checking until the sugar is soft and crumbly.
5. Let it cool completely before storing.
Tips:
- If the brown sugar is very hard, you may need to microwave it for longer than 15 seconds at a time.
- Be careful not to microwave sugar for too long as it could burn.
- If you do not have a microwave, you can also soften brown sugar by placing it in a sealable bag or container and setting it over a pan of simmering water. Stir occasionally until the sugar has softened.
