How to Marinate Ribs With Orange Juice and Barbecue Sauce
A mixture of orange juice and barbecue sauce makes a sweet and tangy marinade for pork ribs. Use your favorite barbecue sauce, and add orange juice to tenderize the meat and add flavor. If the mixture is not tangy enough, add a 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Marinate ribs for eight hours in the refrigerator and cook slowly over low heat.
Things You'll Need
- Pork ribs
- 1 bottle barbecue sauce
- 1 cup orange juice
- Knife
- Large plastic bag
- Baking dish
Instructions
-
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Loosen the membrane by slipping the knife under one edge. Grab the loose edge and remove the entire membrane. This step is optional, but removing the membrane makes the ribs easier to eat and allows the flavors to better penetrate the meat.
-
Season the ribs with salt and pepper. Place the ribs in a large plastic bag.
-
Mix the barbecue sauce and orange juice. Pour over the ribs and massage to make sure the ribs are covered. Squeeze the air out of the bag and seal.
-
Place the ribs in the refrigerator for up to eight hours or overnight.
-
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Place the ribs in a baking dish. Pour the marinade over them. Cover the dish with foil and cook at 250 degrees for approximately three hours. The ribs will be tender and the bones will be loose when done.
