How to Bake Cookies in a Toaster Oven

Toaster ovens take up less space than a full-sized oven, but can be used to bake many of the same items. These ovens get very hot when in use so place out of reach of children. You can buy baking pans and utensils designed specifically for use with toaster ovens.

Things You'll Need

  • Cookie mix or recipe
  • Toaster oven-sized cookie sheet
  • Cooking spray
  • Timer
  • Cooling rack

Instructions

  1. Turn on the toaster oven to the same temperature as for a standard oven. Wait for the toaster oven to reach the desired temperature.

  2. Make the cookie dough according to the package or recipe directions. Cut the recipe in half if desired, as the toaster oven will not hold as many cookies as a regular oven and will take longer to bake the same number of cookies.

  3. Spray the cookie sheet with cooking spray as recommended by the recipe. Place the cookie dough on the cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet into the toaster oven. Add three minutes to the time recommended in the directions and set the timer.

  4. Monitor the cookies so that they don't burn. Remove the cookie sheet when finished baking. You'll know the cookies are done when you can stick a toothpick through one and it comes out clean. Adjust the cooking time if necessary. Place the next cookie sheet into the oven and repeat the process. Place the finished cookies onto a wire rack to cool before serving.
