How to Juice Ginger Root (4 Steps)

Ginger is a healthy addition to any diet, and many juices benefit from its spicy flavor. Straight ginger juice is quite potent, and just a teaspoon goes a long way. The juice can be used in small amounts as an herbal remedy for indigestion and a source of extra vitamins. Pure ginger juice can be made by squeezing peeled ginger through a garlic press and pressing the pulp through cheesecloth. Add honey to the mixture if you wish to sweeten the strong, spicy taste.

Things You'll Need

  • Knife
  • 1/4 inch fresh ginger
  • Spoon
  • Garlic press
  • Cheesecloth
  • Juicer
  • Bowl
  • Honey

Instructions

  1. Slice off a piece of ginger 1/4 inch long. Peel the ginger by pressing the edge of a spoon across its skin. Push the spoon into the folds of the ginger in order to reach the skin inside.

  2. Chop the ginger into small chunks.

  3. Press the chunks through a garlic press over cheesecloth. Allow the juice to seep through the cheesecloth into a bowl below to remove the extra chunks.

  4. Add the peeled ginger to a juicer if you wish to skip the grater and cheesecloth process. If using a power juicer, it is not necessary to dice the ginger into fine pieces. Juice the ginger according to the juicer's instructions. Add 1/4 cup water if the mix is too pulpy.
