How to Cook With Smart Balance Spread
Hydrogenated oils contain trans fats, which can contribute to heart disease and other health conditions, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Smart Balance brand of food products provides a line of foods that do not contain hydrogenated oils or trans fats. The Smart Balance Buttery Spread product is a spreadable butter product that looks, tastes and behaves like real butter. Cook with Smart Balance Spread in the same way you would cook with real butter.
Instructions
-
Read your recipe to determine how much butter the recipe requires.
-
Measure the same amount of Smart Balance Spread. For example, if a recipe requires 1 tablespoon of butter to saute vegetables, measure the same amount of Smart Balance Spread and place it into the skillet.
-
Heat the Smart Balance Spread to melt it if you are sauteing vegetables. Turn the burner onto medium-high and stir the spread gently as it melts.
-
Add the vegetables and cook them lightly in the melted spread.
