Does oven to table mean you can cook on a plate?
Oven-To-Table
Oven-to-tableware refers to cookware that can be used for cooking and serving. For example, Emile Henry offers baking and gratin dishes that can also be used for serving to guests at the table. Many different brands offer items that can be moved safely from a freezer or refrigerator to an oven or microwave, and then directly to a table for serving. There is a wide range of designs and styles available to match different cooking and serving styles.
Cooking On a Plate
While some modern cookware, such as the Always Pan from Our Place, can be used to cook and serve, traditional plates are not designed to be used as cooking surfaces. They are typically intended for serving food and are not made of materials that can withstand the high temperatures of an oven or other heat source. Attempting to cook food directly on a plate could damage the plate or cause a fire.
There are specifically designed cookware items that can be used for both cooking and serving, but standard plates generally should not be used for cooking food.
