How to Freeze Cooked Prime Rib (7 Steps)
Prime rib is an expensive cut of meat that many people cook only once or twice a year, especially around the holidays. Because this cut of meat is quite large, you will likely have leftovers. If you have more than you want to eat in sandwiches or other dishes, consider freezing the rest of it. Freezing your leftover prime rib can allow you to enjoy the expensive meal multiple times a year.
Things You'll Need
- Cooked prime rib
- Frying pan
- Freezer paper
- Plastic wrap
Instructions
-
Carve only the slices of prime rib that you need when it is freshly prepared. That way, you can freeze a large piece of prime rib rather than individual portions.
-
Heat a dry frying pan on a stove until it is hot, but not smoking.
-
Place the prime rib cut side down onto the frying pan. Sear the cut side to seal it so that the juices do not leak out.
-
Allow the prime rib to come to room temperature.
-
Wrap the prime rib in freezer paper.
-
Add a layer of plastic wrap.
-
Label the prime rib and place it inside the freezer. Use the cooked prime rib within a month.
