How to Make Baked Chicken Taste Like Rotisserie Chicken

Cooking a rotisserie chicken is not an easy feat, as it requires the right cookware and considerable time in the kitchen. Many people purchase their rotisserie poultry pre-cooked from a deli or grocery store, enjoying the juicy meat and its crispy skin -- without the need for cooking utensils. Baking the chicken in the oven, however, can produce the same effects with simple preparation.

Things You'll Need

  • Whole or quartered chicken
  • Marinade or dry rub
  • Sealing plastic bag
  • Aluminum foil
  • Baking dish

Instructions

  1. Marinade the chicken or apply dry rub before storing it overnight in the refrigerator in a sealed plastic bag.

  2. Line the bottom of a baking pan with aluminum foil. Create one-inch balls throughout to make a drainable bottom to the pan.

  3. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the baking rack in the middle of the oven.

  4. Place the chicken, breast side up, on the balled-up aluminum foil. Cover the entire baking dish with foil, ensuring no gaps where steam can escape.

  5. Insert the chicken into the oven. Cook for four to six hours, or until the juices run clear when the chicken is pierced with a fork.

  6. Remove the foil and bring the temperature up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow the chicken to cook for five to ten minutes, or until the skin is completely browned.

  7. Remove the chicken from the oven and tent with foil. Allow it to rest for five to ten minutes, allowing the juices to distribute and create the same moisture as rotisserie chicken.
