When was flour first used?

Flour has been used by humans for thousands of years. The earliest evidence of flour production dates back to the Neolithic period (10,000-4,000 BC), when humans began to grind wild grains into flour using stone mortars and pestles. By the Bronze Age (3,000-1,200 BC), flour production had become more sophisticated, with the development of water-powered mills and the use of sieves to separate the flour from the bran. By the Middle Ages (5th-15th centuries AD), flour was a staple food in Europe, and was used to make a variety of breads, cakes, and other pastries.
