Is super washing soda the same as baking ash?
Super washing soda and baking soda (also known as baking powder) are not the same. While both are white powders and have similar names, they differ in their chemical composition and uses.
Super Washing Soda (Sodium Carbonate):
- Chemical formula: Na2CO3
- Common name: Soda ash or washing soda
- Properties:
- Highly alkaline (pH of around 11-12)
- Water-soluble
- Strong cleaning agent
- Uses:
- Laundry detergent booster: Helps soften water and remove stains.

Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate):

- Common name: Baking powder or bicarbonate of soda

- Mildly alkaline (pH of around 8-9)
- Water-soluble
- Baking agent (releases carbon dioxide when heated)
- Uses:
- Baking: Leavening agent in cakes, breads, and other baked goods.
- Cleaning: Mild abrasive for gentle scrubbing and deodorizing.
- Deodorizing: Absorbs and neutralizes odors.
