I have a recipe that calls for one envelope of baking powder. What is powder?
Baking powder is a dry chemical leavening agent, a mixture of baking soda, a weak acid or acid salt, and corn starch (as an anti-caking agent). When it reacts with a liquid, bubbles of carbon dioxide form, causing dough or batter to rise.
