Where was muffins made?

The muffin's earliest origins are generally attributed to the United Kingdom, where they date back to at least the 10th century. Muffins were often baked by English muffin men who would sell their wares on the streets of London and other cities. During the 18th century, the muffin became popular in America where both English and American varieties can still be found today.
