Why is pancake day called that?
The term "pancake day" refers to Shrove Tuesday, not Easter Sunday. Shrove Tuesday marks the last day before the beginning of Lent and is traditionally associated with the consumption of pancakes. During the Lenten period many Christian communities restrict the consumption of rich foods including dairy, and fat based food, hence using these up through pancakes is the origin of its traditional association with this festival.
