How to Make the Best Laverbread (4 Steps)

Laverbread is a Welsh delicacy made from Laver seaweed, commonly seen in Japanese cooking, and oatmeal. Eaten for breakfast with cockles or bacon, this dish has a high nutritional value. The only downside is that it takes hours to prepare.

Things You'll Need

  • Laver seaweed
  • Saucepan
  • Oatmeal
  • Mixing bowl
  • Frying pan

Instructions

  1. Wash the seaweed thoroughly clean of sand. You may have to run it under the water several times.

  2. Boil the seaweed for 6 hours or until the Laver turns into a pulp.

  3. Put the seaweed into a bowl, add the oatmeal and mix them together thoroughly.

  4. Divide the mix into small cakes and fry them in a pan with olive oil. Remove when ready and serve.
