How to Prepare Jimmy Dean Ground Pork Sausage Patties

The Jimmy Dean sausage company was founded in 1968. Since that time, they have supplied American homes with many breakfast products, including ground pork sausage patties. As of 2011, there are 8 varieties of ground pork sausage available. These patties can be a bit intimidating to novice cooks who aren't familiar with how to prepare ground meat sausages. The process is actually not a complicated one, though. Using a few tips from Jimmy Dean for preparation, you can open up your breakfast menu rotation to include these sausages.

Things You'll Need

  • Sharp kitchen knife
  • Skillet
  • Spatula or fork
  • Kitchen thermometer

Instructions

  1. Remove the sausage from your refrigerator 10 to 15 minutes before you plan to cook it and put it in the freezer. This will allow the meat to harden enough that it is easier to slice.

  2. Cut the sausage into patties by slicing the meat along the marks indicated on the product by the manufacturer.

  3. Arrange the cut patties in a cold skillet and then place over medium heat for 11 minutes.

  4. Use a fork or spatula to turn each patty over and then cook on the opposite side for 4 minutes.

  5. Check that each sausage is done. Use a kitchen thermometer to ensure that each patty has an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees. There should also be no pink on the inside.
