Why does a raw egg continue spinning after stopped?
A raw egg doesn't actually continue spinning after it's stopped. The illusion that it does is caused by a combination of factors:
* The liquid inside: The yolk and white of a raw egg are mostly liquid, and this liquid has some inertia. When you spin the egg, the liquid inside also starts spinning. Even after you stop spinning the egg, the liquid inside keeps moving for a while, causing the shell to wobble and give the appearance of continued spinning.
* Friction: The friction between the shell and the liquid inside is relatively low. This allows the liquid to keep moving for a longer time.
* The shell's shape: The oval shape of the egg also contributes to the illusion. The wobbly motion of the shell due to the moving liquid is exaggerated by the egg's shape, making it seem like it's spinning longer.
In reality, the egg stops spinning as soon as you stop applying force to it. The liquid inside simply continues moving for a short time, creating the illusion of continued spinning.
