Can materials pass through egg shell?

Materials that can pass through the pores of an eggshell include oxygen, carbon dioxide, water vapor, and certain small molecules such as hydrogen sulfide and ammonia. However, larger molecules and solid particles, such as bacteria or dust, cannot pass through the pores.
