What happens when you leave a raw egg in Pepsi?

The carbon dioxide in Pepsi will cause the egg's shell to dissolve, exposing its membrane. The membrane is semi-permeable, meaning it allows some substances to pass through while blocking others. In this case, the carbonated Pepsi is able to pass through the membrane and begin breaking down the egg's yolk and white. Eventually, the egg's proteins will become damaged and the egg will become "cooked" by the Pepsi.
