Why does chex mix original not have the white bread pieces anymore?
Chex Mix Original used to contain "bread sticks" made from white bread, but these were removed in 2018.
The exact reason for their removal isn't publicly stated by the manufacturer, General Mills. However, there are a few likely possibilities:
* Consumer preferences: General Mills may have noticed declining demand for the bread sticks.
* Cost-effectiveness: Producing and including bread sticks might have become less cost-effective compared to the other ingredients.
* Focus on simplicity: Removing the bread sticks streamlined the recipe, potentially making production more efficient.
* Health considerations: Although bread sticks are a traditional Chex Mix element, they contribute to the snack's overall carbohydrate content.
While the bread sticks are gone, you can still find similar cheesy, crunchy snacks in other Chex Mix varieties, like "Chex Mix Party Mix."
If you miss the white bread pieces in your Chex Mix Original, you can always try adding your own homemade croutons or even some plain bread cubes to your mix.
