What does it mean if someone is putting bread on your window?
Putting a piece of bread on the window sill means that there used to be a tradition in the villages on the Balkan peninsula that if someone was putting a piece of bread on the window sill of a house, the owner of the house would know that some neighbor was in need of help of any kind and would discreetly give them the help that they needed. Some people still do this today but not everybody understands the gesture.
