How do you get seeds from cabbage?
You can't get seeds from a cabbage you buy in the store! Those are heads of cabbage, the edible part of the plant, not the flowering part that produces seeds.
Here's how to get seeds from cabbage:
1. Let the cabbage plant flower: After harvesting the cabbage head, the plant will send up a tall stalk with flowers.
2. Wait for the flowers to form seed pods: These pods will develop after the flowers fade.
3. Harvest the seed pods: Once the pods turn brown and dry, they're ready to be harvested.
4. Extract the seeds: Gently rub the seeds out of the pods. You can dry them further in a warm, dry place.
5. Store the seeds: Keep your cabbage seeds in a cool, dry place for future planting.
Note: You can also buy cabbage seeds from reputable garden centers or online retailers.
