How do mushrooms appear in your yard year after when there is no sign of them between seasons?

Mushroom spores are present in the soil throughout the year, but they only become visible when conditions are right for their growth. These conditions include:

- Moisture: Mushrooms need a lot of moisture to grow. This is why they often appear after a heavy rain.

- Temperature: Mushrooms also need warm temperatures to grow. This is why they are most common in the spring and fall.

- Organic matter: Mushrooms feed on organic matter, such as dead leaves, grass, and wood. This is why they are often found in areas with a lot of organic matter, such as forests and compost piles.

When the conditions are right, mushroom spores will germinate and begin to grow. They will first form a small, white mycelium network in the soil. This network will then send up small, white mushrooms that will eventually mature into the larger, more visible mushrooms that we see above ground.

Mushrooms can also appear in your yard if they are introduced by other means, such as through contaminated soil or compost, or by wind-borne spores.
