Steam slices or chunks of summer squash for 2 to 4 minutes, depending on the size of the slices.

Microwave slices or chunks of summer squash with a little water for 4 to 6 minutes.

Sauté sliced summer squash over medium-high heat, with olive oil and garlic, for 5 minutes, or until browned in places and tender.

Grill thick slices of oil-brushed summer squash over medium coals for 5 minutes per side.

Try summer squash with finely chopped mixed fresh herbs (perhaps parsley, summer savory and marjoram) and lemon or butter.
