What is a simple recipe for Stone Soup?
Ingredients
- 1 large soup pot
- 1 smooth, clean stone
- 4 cups water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup chopped carrots
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped cabbage
- 1 cup chopped mushrooms
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley
- 1/2 cup chopped dill weed
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
1.Place the stone in the bottom of the soup pot.
2.Add the water, salt, and pepper.
3.Bring the mixture to a boil.
4.Add the carrots, celery, onion, cabbage, mushrooms, parsley, dill weed, thyme, and oregano.
5.Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
6.Serve immediately.
Tips
-If you don't have a smooth, clean stone, you can use a piece of pottery or another object that will not react with the food.
-You can add or subtract vegetables from the recipe to suit your taste.
-Stone soup is a great way to use up leftover vegetables.
-This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled for a larger group of people.
