What are the two types of food spoilage?

There are two main types of food spoilage:

1. Deteriorative spoilage - This is the most common type of spoilage and is caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, and mold. These microorganisms break down the food, causing it to lose its nutritional value, flavor, and texture.

2. Pathogenic spoilage - This type of spoilage is caused by harmful microorganisms that can cause foodborne illness. These microorganisms include Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria monocytogenes. Pathogenic spoilage can be very serious and can even lead to death in some cases.
