How to Shell Pistachio Nuts (3 Steps)
The pistachio nut is grown in the Middle East as well as in North America, Europe, and Asia. Inside the shell of a pistachio is a seed that is greenish in color, which can be eaten. Of course, to enjoy these tasty nuts on their own, or to use them in recipes, you must first free them from their shells. You don't need a special tool to remove the shell of the pistachio, just your fingers, which makes them one of the easier nuts to enjoy.
Instructions

Grip one unshelled pistachio nut in your hands. Place your thumbs on either side of the cracked open end of the shell where the crack is the widest.

Pry the shell apart by moving your thumbs away from each other. Keep prying until the shell splits in half, freeing the nut.

If the nut shell isn't already cracked from the roasting process, press the nut between your thumbs and pointer fingers, applying as much pressure as possible. Your thumbs should be stacked on the crease on one side of the shell and your pointer fingers stacked on the other. Press until the shell cracks. Then pry the shell open.
