Is only eating junk food a disorder?

While a diet consisting primarily or exclusively of junk foods may contribute to health issues and an unbalanced, unhealthy lifestyle, it's not considered an eating disorder in the clinical sense. Eating disorders are recognized as specific psychiatric illnesses that involve significant disturbances in eating behaviors and attitudes towards food, accompanied by psychological and physical symptoms.

Common eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, and other specified feeding or eating disorders (OSFED). These conditions are characterized by a range of behaviors, such as extreme dieting, purging, binge eating, and a preoccupation with body weight and shape.

Eating junk food, even frequently, doesn't meet the diagnostic criteria for an eating disorder. However, it's important to maintain a balanced diet and seek medical advice if you have concerns about your eating habits or overall health.
