What kind of food do cushion star eats?

Cushion stars are a type of starfish, and like most starfish, they are carnivores. They primarily feed on:

* Bivalve mollusks: These include clams, oysters, mussels, and scallops. The cushion star uses its strong arms to pry open the bivalve's shell and then consumes the soft tissues inside.

* Other invertebrates: They may also eat other small invertebrates such as worms, snails, and barnacles.

They have a unique feeding strategy called eversion. This involves turning their stomachs inside out and pushing it through their mouths onto their prey. The stomach then digests the prey externally and the cushion star then draws the partially digested food back into its body.

So, in short, cushion stars eat a diet of primarily bivalves and other small invertebrates.
