How a knife and fork are set on dinner format?
The proper way to set a knife and fork on a dinner plate depends on whether you are in a formal or informal setting.
Formal Setting:
1. Knife: Place the knife on the right side of the plate with the blade facing inward. The cutting edge of the blade should be turned toward the plate.
2. Fork: Place the fork on the left side of the plate with the tines facing upward. The fork should be aligned with the knife.
Informal Setting:
In an informal setting, the placement of the knife and fork is not as strict. However, it is still generally accepted to place the knife on the right side of the plate and the fork on the left side. The fork can be placed either with the tines facing up or down.
Additional Tips:
* When you are finished eating, place your knife and fork together on the plate with the handles facing in opposite directions. This is a signal to the server that you are finished.
* If you are using a steak knife, place it next to the other utensils on the right side of the plate with the blade facing outward.
* If you are using a dessert fork, place it above the dinner plate with the handle facing to the right.
