How to Make Fruit Vinegars (4 Steps)
Fruit vinegars are a refreshing change to your everyday salad dressing. Almost any fruit can be used to make vinegar; it all depends on your taste. It is a lower-calorie and nutritious option for those watching their waistline, or those craving something different. They are also great gifts to bring to a dinner party or as a gift for the holidays. Just a few ingredients and a few hours are needed to make these flavorful vinegars.
Things You'll Need
- 1 qt. fresh raspberries
- 1 qt. fresh blueberries
- 3 medium saucepans
- Metal spoon
- Cheesecloth
- Mesh strainer
- Small funnel
- 2 cups cider vinegar
- 2 cups white wine vinegar
- 4 tbsp. sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 500ml jars with plastic lids
- Microwave

Pour raspberries into the strainer and rinse with cold water. Empty the strainer of raspberries into the saucepan. Stir constantly with the metal spoon until the raspberries come to a boil. Remove from heat and let it cool for 1 hour.

Put a double layer of cheesecloth in a mesh strainer. Place the strainer on top of the second saucepan. Pour the raspberries through the strainer. Let it stand for 1 hour. Rinse the first saucepan and repeat all the preceding steps with 1 qt. of blueberries.

Sterilize the two jars by putting them in the microwave for 1 minute. Pour the raspberry juice into one of the jars using a funnel. Add 2 cups of cider vinegar and 2 tbsp. sugar into the jar. Add the blueberry juice to the other jar. Add 2 cups of white wine vinegar, 2 tbsp. sugar and a cinnamon stick to that jar. Seal the lids on both jars.
