Can people identify food more with touch or smell?
Smell.
The sense of smell plays an important role in our ability to taste food. In fact, it is estimated that we can identify up to 10,000 different scents. This allows us to distinguish between different types of food and to identify those that are safe to eat. In contrast, our sense of touch is not as well-developed when it comes to identifying food. We can certainly feel the texture of food, but we cannot use this information alone to identify what it is. Therefore, smell is the more important sense when it comes to identifying food.
