Does anyone have a recipe for mac and cheese made with velveeta cheese?
Classic Velveeta Mac and Cheese
This recipe is a classic for a reason! It's simple, cheesy, and comforting.
Ingredients:
* 1 pound elbow macaroni
* 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
* 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 3 cups milk
* 1 (16-ounce) block Velveeta cheese, cubed
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
* 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cook the macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
3. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
4. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
5. Add the Velveeta cheese, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
6. Stir in the salt, pepper, and cooked macaroni.
7. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
8. Sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese (if using).
9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
Tips:
* For extra cheesy goodness: Add 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese along with the Velveeta.
* To make it creamier: Use whole milk instead of skim milk.
* For a more flavorful sauce: Add 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or onion powder to the roux.
* To make it ahead: Assemble the mac and cheese in the baking dish and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for up to 2 days. Bake as directed, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
