Who invented Swiss cheese?
There is no specific inventor of Swiss cheese. It is believed that the cheese originated in the Emmental Valley of Switzerland in the 13th century. The cheesemaking technique was developed by local farmers who used the abundant milk produced by their cows to make a cheese that could be stored for long periods of time. The large holes in Swiss cheese are caused by bacteria that produce carbon dioxide gas during the cheesemaking process.
