What you do when using chopsticks?
Here are step by step instructions on how to use chopsticks:
Step 1: Hold the first chopstick
Place the first chopstick between the base of your thumb and index finger. Rest the other end on the inside base of your ring finger. This is the stationary chopstick. For more control, extend the forefinger straight along the chopstick.
Step 2: Hold the second chopstick
Hold the second chopstick like you would a pencil between your thumb and forefinger. The lower part of the chopstick should firmly rest against your ring finger.
Step 3: Bring the chopsticks together
Align the tips of the chopsticks so they are roughly parallel. The active or lower chopstick should move while the stationary chopstick remains in place.
Step 4: Grip your food
Pinch the bottom chopstick with your thumb and forefinger. Open the top chopstick a bit by lifting your index finger and thumb. Grab your food with both chopsticks. Don’t squeeze too tightly or too loosely. Gently but firmly hold the food so that it doesn’t fall off.
Step 5: Enjoy your meal
Bring the food to your mouth and enjoy!
