According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the world production of bananas in 2018 was around 113.8 million metric tons. Assuming an average weight of 200 grams per banana, this translates to around 569 billion individual bananas produced annually.
Regarding human consumption, it is estimated that the average person eats around 117 bananas per year. Therefore, the total annual banana consumption by humans would be approximately 67 billion bananas, or around 13.4 million metric tons.
