Where do cheerios originate from?

The origins of Cheerios date back to 1893, when the Quaker Oats Company introduced a product called "Granose" breakfast cereal. The cereal was made from oat groats that had been rolled and toasted, and it was marketed as a healthy and convenient breakfast food. The cereal, however, was a commercial failure

Several decades later, in 1940, the Quaker Oats Company came up with a new cereal that was later branded as Cheerios. The cereal was created by Lester Borchardt, a cereal chemist at the Quaker Oats Company.

Borchardt came up with the name "Cheerioats", which was later shortened to "Cheerios" because the company found that the name was easier to pronounce and remember.

The cereal was made from toasted oat flour and sugar. The cereal was an immediate success, and it quickly became one of the most popular cereals in the United States. Cheerios are still produced by the Quaker Oats Company, which is now owned by PepsiCo.
