What three vegetables did the Indians grow together?

It's impossible to say definitively which three vegetables all Indians grew together, as there are many different indigenous groups in India with diverse agricultural practices.

However, a common practice throughout many parts of India was the "three sisters" system, where farmers would grow:

1. Corn (maize): The tall stalks provided support for the beans.

2. Beans: The beans would climb the corn stalks, using them as a natural trellis.

3. Squash: The squash would spread out on the ground, shading the soil and preventing weeds from growing.

This system is beneficial for both the plants and the farmers:

* The corn provides structure for the beans.

* The beans fix nitrogen in the soil, enriching it for the other plants.

* The squash helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.

While "three sisters" is a common example, many other vegetable combinations were grown together, depending on region, soil, and climate.
