What are the steps of RICE?

The steps of RICE are:

Rest: Avoid using the injured area as much as possible.

Ice: Apply ice to the injured area for 15-20 minutes at a time, several times a day. Wrap the ice in a cloth to avoid direct contact with the skin.

Compression: Wrap the injured area snugly with an elastic bandage or compression wrap to help reduce swelling. Avoid wrapping too tightly, as this can cut off blood flow.

Elevation: Keep the injured area elevated above the heart as much as possible to help reduce swelling.
