How to Make Chinese Mustard Sauce (5 Steps)

Things You'll Need
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons of shoyu (Japanese soy sauce)
- 1 tablespoon of mild honey
- 1 tablespoon of dry mustard
- 1 tablespoon of mirin or sake (Japanese sweet cooking wine)
- 3-4 tablespoons of toasted sesame seeds
- 2 small bowls
- 3/4 lb of cod steak or favorite fish
- electric grill pan or frying pan
- french fries
- hush puppies
How to Make Chinese Mustard Sauce

Blend 1 tablespoon of shoyu (Japanese soy sauce) with the mild honey, dry mustard, and mirin or sake (Japanese sweet cooking wine,) in a small bowl. Mix extremely well. Let the sauce sit for 10 minutes then taste.

For additional spice, add mustard powder to the mixutre. Or if you want more sweetness to the sauce, add additional honey and/or shoyu (Japanese soy sauce.)

Put the sesame seeds in a small bowl. Set the sesame seed bowl, along with the prepared Chinese mustard sauce condiment, aside for later use.

Place your cod steaks (or favorite fish) in an electric grill pan, or frying pan over the stove. Grill to desired consistency, in one tablespoon of sesame oil and shoyu (Japanese soy sauce.) Turning the cod steaks at least once, until lightly crisp on both sides.

Spoon a portion from each bowl of sesame seeds and Chinese mustard sauce condiment, over the prepared cod steaks (or favorite fish,) until the fish is lightly covered. Serve dish with hush puppies, french fries or favorite side dish.
