How do you clean your drain lines?
Cleaning Drain Lines
1. Pour boiling water down the drain. This will help to loosen any grease or grime that has built up in the pipes.
2. Add a cup of baking soda to the drain, followed by a cup of vinegar. This will create a chemical reaction that will help to break down any clogs.
3. Cover the drain with a plunger and plunge up and down vigorously for several minutes. This will help to dislodge any clogs that are further down the pipe.
4. Flush the drain with hot water. This will help to rinse away any remaining debris.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 if necessary. If the drain is still clogged, you may need to repeat steps 2-4 until the clog is cleared.
6. To prevent future clogs, avoid pouring grease or food scraps down the drain. You should also regularly clean your drain lines using the method described above.
Additional tips:
- If you have a garbage disposal, be sure to run it regularly to help grind up food scraps.
- If you have a slow-draining sink, you may need to snake the drain to clear any clogs.
- If you have a clogged toilet, you may need to use a toilet auger to clear the clog.
Never use chemical drain cleaners, as these can be harmful to your pipes and to the environment.
