What is the difference between a vineyard and winery?
A vineyard is an area of land devoted to the cultivation of grapes. It can be as small as a few acres or span hundreds of acres. Wineries, on the other hand, are facilities where grapes are crushed, fermented, aged, and bottled to produce wine. A winery may have its own vineyard attached to it. Vineyard is about farming and farming the grapes. However, the winemaking takes place at the winery where grape processing and fermentation process occurs that determines type of wines.
