Where is the source for most of cork?

Cork oak (Quercus suber) forests are mainly distributed in the western Mediterranean basin, specifically in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. These regions have the perfect combination of climate, soil, and rainfall that create the optimal conditions for cork oak tree growth.

Portugal is responsible for producing over 50% of the world's cork, mostly grown in the southern part of the country, such as the regions of Alentejo and Algarve.
