How do you measure the volume of a wine bottle cork?
The volume of the wine bottle cork can be measured using the water displacement method. Here are the steps to do it:
1. Gather the following materials:
- Wine bottle cork
- Graduated cylinder or measuring cup
- Water
- Overflow container
2. Fill your graduated cylinder or measuring cup about halfway full with water.
3. Place your wine bottle cork into the container with water.
4. Observe the water level to be sure it rises, and continue adding water until the cork is completely submerged.
5. Take note of the new water level.
6. Subtract the original water level from the final water level to find the volume of the cork.
For example, if the original water level was 50 ml, and the final water level was 75 ml, then the volume of the wine bottle cork would be 75 ml - 50 ml = 25 ml.
