How much alcohol is in cooking sherry?
Cooking sherry typically contains around 17% alcohol by volume (ABV). However, it can vary slightly depending on the brand.
It's important to note that cooking sherry is not the same as regular sherry that you would drink. Cooking sherry is often fortified with extra alcohol and can have a saltier taste.
If you are using cooking sherry in a dish that needs to be cooked for a long time, much of the alcohol will evaporate during the cooking process. However, if you are using it in a dish that is cooked for a shorter period of time, some of the alcohol will remain.
If you are concerned about the alcohol content in your cooking, you can always substitute cooking sherry with another ingredient, such as white wine or chicken broth.
